Free Crochet Pattern - Lorraine's Prom Gown

     Here is the pattern for Lorraine's Prom Gown from Back to the Future.  For this dress, I kept revising the pattern because I wasn't completely satisfied with the results.  I guess that I'm a perfectionist. :)  Anyway, I am satisfied with this version.

Materials 

Size 10 thread in coral and metallic gold 

1.8 mm hook 

2 or 3 small snaps

Directions 

Top

Row 1: With coral, ch 40, 1 sc in 2nd ch from hook, 1 sc in each ch across, turn.

Rows 2-10: Ch 1, (1 sc in the back loop of next st, 1 sc in the front loop of next st) across, turn.

Row 11: Ch 1, 1 sc in back loop of next st, (1 sc in front loop of next st, 1 sc in back loop of next st) 5 times, (2 sc in the front loop of the next st, 2 sc in the back loop of the next st) across to last 11 sts, (1 sc in the back loop of next st, 1 sc in front loop of next st) across last 11 sts, turn.

Row 12: Ch 1, sc in the back loop of next st, (1 sc in front loop of next st, 1 sc in back loop of next st) 5 times, 2 sc in the front loop of next st, (1 sc in back loop of next st, 2 sc in front loop of next st) across to last 10 sts, (1 sc in front loop of next st, 1 sc in back loop of next st) across, turn.

Rows 13-16: Ch 1, (1 sc in front loop of next st, sc in back loop of next st) across, turn.

Row 17: Ch 1, 1 sc in the back loop of next st, (1 sc in front loop of st, 1 sc in back loop of next st) 5 times, (sc dec over next 2 sts in back loops, sc dec over next 2 sts in front loops) across, to last 11 sts, sc in the back loop of next st, (sc in the front loop of next st, sc in back loop of next st) across last 11 sts, turn.

Row 18:  Ch 1, (1 sc in front loop of next st, sc in back loop of next st) across first 11 sts, (sc dec over next 2 sts in back loops, 1 sc in front loop of next st) 

Row 19: Ch 3, (you will sc in both loops of st) 1 dc in each st across, turn.

Row 20: Ch 1, in BACK LOOPS ONLY, 1 sc in 1st 20 sts, turn, leaving remaining sts unworked.

Row 21: Ch 1, sc dec over 1st 2 sts, 1 sc in each st across, turn.

Row 22: Ch 1, 1 sc in each st across to last 2 sts, sc dec over last 2 sts, turn.  Fasten off.

For other side, turn piece so that the opposite side is facing you.

Row 19: In FRONT LOOPS ONLY, join thread, ch 1, 1 sc in each of the next 20 sts, turn.

Row 20: Ch 1, sc dec over 1st 2 sts, 1 sc in each st across, turn.

Row 21: Ch 1, 1 sc in each st across to last 2 sts, sc dec over last 2 sts.  Fasten off.

Straps

Turn piece so that the wrong side is facing you.  Starting on right side, go to row 19.  (You will work into unworked loops) Count 15 sts into row.  Join thread in next st.  Ch 16, go back to 7th st of row, sl st in that st, turn, 1 dc in each ch across.  Fasten off.  Repeat on opposite side of row.

Skirt

Row 1: Join coral at bottom of the top.  (You will be sc'ing in the loops of the chains) Ch 1, 2 sc in each ch loop, across, turn.

Rnd 2: Ch 5, (sk 2 sts, dc in next st, ch 4) repeat across, join, turn.

Rnds 3-?: Ch 5, (sk 1st ch loop, dc in next set of ch's, ch 4) around, join, turn.  Repeat this rnd until the skirt reaches Barbie's knee or until it reaches desired length.

Weave in all ends.  Make one Barbie Romantic Tutu.  Put dress on doll and underneath the lace part, put the tutu.  Sew it to the waist underneath.

Cinderella's Blue Ball Gown - Free Crochet Pattern

     Here is the pattern for Cinderella's blue ball gown!  I hope you enjoy this pattern.  Has anyone seen the movie yet?

Materials

Size 10 thread in blue, cream, and dark blue (I used Aunt Lydia's Classic 10)

1.8 mm hook

White and blue tulle (be sure that the blue tulle matches your blue crochet thread!)

Top 

Row 1: With light blue crochet thread, ch 42, sc in 2nd ch from hook, 1 sc in each of next 17 sts, 1 hdc in next st, 1 dc in next st, 1 tr in next st, 1 dc in next st, 1 hdc in next st, 1 dc in each of last 17 sts, turn. 

Row 2-3: Ch 1, 1 dc in each of next 17 sts, 1 hdc in next st, 1 dc in next st, 1 tr in next st, 1 dc in next st, 1 hdc in next st, 1 sc in each of the last 17 sts, turn.

Row 4-11: Ch 1, 1 sc in each st across, turn.

Row 12: Ch 1, 1 sc in each of next 10 sts, 2 sc in each st to last 11 sts, 1 sc in each of the last 11 sts, turn. 

Row 13-15: Ch 1, 1 sc in each st across, turn.

Row 16: Ch 1, 1 sc in each of next 10 sts, (sc dec) in each st across to last 11 sts, 1 sc in each of last 11 sts, turn.

Rows 17-18: Ch 1, 1 sc in each st across, turn.  Fasten off. 

Sleeves 

Note; The sleeves are a bit complicated, so I hope I have explained everything clearly.  

 Cut 2 pieces of blue tulle 7 inches long.  Fold each piece until it is about a centimeter wide.  Gather one end of each folded piece.  Sew the gathered edges of each piece together, making sure to hide the rough edges.  Sew the joined piece to the crocheted top. 

Butterflies (make 3 in each color; cream, light blue, and dark blue)

Ch 7.  Sl st in 1st st.  Gather middle of ch circle.  Sew each butterfly onto the sleeves of the dress.  

Skirt For the skirt, all you have to do is make two long, white tulle skirts and layer a blue one over those two skirts.  Click here and follow the directions to make two white skirts and one blue one.  For the first white skirt, cut strips of tulle that are 6 inches wide and 16 inches long.  For the second white skirt, cut strips of tulle that are 6 inches wide and 16 1/2 inches long.  Sew these two skirts together.  Make a blue skirt with strips that are 17 inches long.  Sew this skirt to the other two white skirts.  Now sew the whole skirt (which is all three skirts sewn together) to the top you crocheted earlier.  

Cinderella's Blue Ball Gown - Crochet Pattern Preview

     Hi, everyone!  Here is a preview of the next free crochet pattern to be shared here; let me present to you Cinderella's Blue Ball gown!  This pattern will be shared next Saturday, which is March 14th, the day after Cinderella comes to theaters!  I cannot wait to see the movie, and neither can my siblings. :)

     Today, I will just be sharing a preview of the pattern, and next week I will post the pattern.  Take a look at the pictures below - I'm sure you're already looking forward to making this gown for Barbie. :) 

I love how pretty Cinderella's ball gown is.  It is fairly easy to make, yet the finished product is stunning.  

Don't you love the butterflies on the bodice?  It gives such a magical touch to the outfit.  

I have to say that I love how full the skirt is!  All I did was use my romantic skirt pattern (find my free tutorial here) and layered two white skirts underneath a blue one.  It was super simple!

Pink Pearl Elegance Gown

       For this gown, I used one of my old ballet skirts for the skirt part of this dress.  It is a great way to recycle old ballet skirts.  It was fairly easy to make this dress, as the top did not have much shaping.  It was harder to sew on the beads and skirt, but it was just minor sewing.  A plus side of this dress is that there are tons of possibilities for decorating it.  Be creative!  

     This dress was actually inspired by the dress Emily wears to the Christmas ball in the Hallmark channel movie, A Royal Christmas.  I just added sleeves, a higher neck, and a longer train.  The fan was also added to the outfit.  The gloves I am not sure how to make, but I will figure out something. 

     I'm probably going to make more of what I call character outfits.  What I mean is an outfit from or inspired by a character in a movie or an actress.  I am planning on doing an outfit from each of my favorite movies.  Some of the outfits I already have finished!  I have this outfit, the red Annie dress from the new Annie movie, that is sized for Stacie, Barbie's little sister, an outfit inspired by Lorraine dance outfit from Back to the Future, and a Nancy Drew one getting ready to be crocheted.  These outfit patterns will be posted here for free, so don't worry!  I just need to look over the patterns and fix certain parts.

Materials 

Size 10 thread in a light pink color (I used aunt Lydia's Classic crochet thread size 10 in orchid)

1.8 mm hook

3 mm pearl white beads

White sewing thread

Chiffon ballet skirt girls size medium 10-12

About 6 inches of tulle

White or pink lining

Note: If you want a longer train in the back of the dress, use a longer skirt (maybe a size 14 or 16).

Note: Before starting project, check over skirt for rips or stains.  Remove tag.

Note: Picot = (ch 3, sl st in 1st ch) in st indicated. 

Pattern

Top part of dress

Row 1: With pink thread, ch 43, dc in 4th ch from hook, dc in each ch across, turn.

Rows 2-8: Ch 3, 1 dc in each st across, turn.

Row 9: Ch 3, 1 dc in each of next 16 sts, 1 hdc in each of the next 3 sts, sc dec over next 2 sts, 1 hdc in each of the next 3 sts, 1 dc in each of next 16 sts.  Fasten off.  Weave in all ends.

Sew white pearl beads onto top.  

Tulle Sleeves

Cut one piece of tulle 5 1/2 inches wide and 6 inches long.  Fold tulle lengthwise and cut folded piece of tulle into 2 pieces of equal length.  Pin tulle so it doesn't unfold.  Sew tulle onto the top of the top part of the dress.  

Skirt

Sew on pink lining onto the bottom of top.

Carefully cut chiffon off of skirt.  Gather chiffon to the circumference of Barbie's waist.  Sew chiffon to the bottom of top. 

Fan

Row 1: Ch 17, sc in 2nd ch from hook, 1 sc in each of next 3 sts, 1 hdc in each of next 4 sts, 1 dc in each of next 4 sts, tr in each of last 4 sts, turn.   

Row 2: IN BACK LOOPS ONLY, ch 4, 1 tr in each of next 3 sts, 1 dc in each of next 4 sts, 1 hdc in each of next 4 sts, 1 sc in each of last 5 sts, turn.

Row 3: IN BACK LOOPS ONLY, ch 1, 1 sc in each of next 4 sts, 1 hdc in each of next 4 sts, 1 dc in each of next 4 sts, 1 tr in each of last 4 sts, turn.

Rows 4-12: Repeat rows 2 and 3 alternately.  DO NOT FASTEN OFF.

Edging

Ch 1, sc up row 12, 3 sc in last st.  Now sc across the top of fan, 3 sc in last "st", sc down row 1, turn.  Ch 1, 1 sc in each st to top of fan, ( sc, picot, sc) across top of fan, 1 sc in each sc down side of fan.  Fasten off, leaving a long tail end.  Use tail end to gather the bottom end (the narrower end) of the fan. Make a tassel and attach to fan.  To make pearl bracelet that keeps fan on Barbie's wrist, thread pearl beads onto sewing thread and attach to fan.

Hairpiece 

Rnd 1: With pink, ch 6, join to 1st ch.  Fasten off.  

To add the pearls, I simply threaded the beads onto the tail ends and created loops of pearl beads.  Leave long tail ends so you can tie it onto Barbie's ponytail or, if your doll has a hairdo like mine, simply pull the tail ends underneath the up part.
